TLANTA - After federal authorities announced indictments of nearly 50 alleged gang members last week, new details have surfaced about a local rapper who found himself under the strong arm of threats from suspected members of a gang.
The federal indictment cites four gang members who allegedly threatened Ross – named R.R. in the paperwork – with physical harm unless he paid the gang for the use of the gang’s name and symbols.
In the video, he’s told he can play no more shows in the 24 states where the gang has ties, including Georgia, unless he “turns those checks in.”
Ross canceled his tour shortly after the threat surfaced, but on Twitter cited it was canceled due to poor promotion.
There have been reports that a shooting at Ross’ Chicago studio was connected to the gang, however that incident was not cited in the indictment, nor is the shooting at Ross’ Atlanta studio last year.
Several people named in that gang indictment appeared before a judge in court Monday, including an ex-DeKalb County officer, who allegedly served as a hit-man for the gang.
